The 5th Month

Cale is 5 months old. He is growing so fast! I know I say that every month, but seriously I wish I could make these last couple months last a couple years. Cale has started rolling all over the place. No more putting him on the bed (even the middle of it) for even a second without keeping my eyes right on him. He continues to develop a personality all his own. It is a major mood booster to make a funny face or sound in his direction because you are guaranteed a laugh. I was in the middle of taking off his shirt after a little spit up. This one is a little tight on his head. We couldn't resist the photo op.

Still a really really big boy!

At Cale's 4 month visit he weighed 18.2lbs and was 26.5 inches long, which still puts him in the 90th percentile. He gained a whole 3 pounds since his last visit. Brian and I were both shocked. We thought for sure he wasn't going to be more that 17 and a half. In hindsight we shouldn't of been too shocked...that boy is heavy!

I have been playing soccer on Sundays. It is pretty much my only exercise for the week :(. Cale and Brian come to the games to cheer me on. Cale was ready to play just in case we didn't have enough players.

My little Bear

Cool shades huh. They look fake, but they really are his sunglasses.

Cale is still discovering everything through his mouth. I think he was jealous that we were eating so he thought he'd see how the tray tasted. We can always use this picture if he ever decides to try out for the band Kiss.

And back by popular demand...a video entitled "Cale Laughs-A-Lot"

First Thanksgiving

Cale's first Thanksgiving was spent with Brian's side of the fam. He had a great time with grandma and grandpa Keehn. Debbie got him a bib to commemorate the occasion. Cale of course enjoyed having something to chew on. He got to "eat" turkey at 4 and 1/2 months!

What could be better than getting to play with one great grandma at Thanksgiving... getting to play with TWO great grandmas! Cale is almost too big for Grammee. He started his usual excited jump while sitting on her. 18lbs coming down hard on your legs can be a bit much.

Allison was able to join us. She is over half way into her pregnancy. Cale likes talking to the little boy in her belly. He is letting him know it is not too bad out here.

After the Keehn's we headed over to Cale's Vovo's. Cale loves getting to spend time with David and Clauce. He hung out with them most of the the night while Brian and I played games with the rest of the family. Brian won Bonanza for the first time! I'm pretty sure Belen let him win since she killed us in Scrabble a few night earlier.

Outside at Brian's mom's house. The weather was perfect.

Dedication

On November 9th Cale had his baby dedication at church. Brian and I also publicly dedicated ourselves to raise him in the ways of the Lord. We would love and appreciate your prayers for us on this journey especially for Cale's salvation.Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Deuteronomy 6:4-7 "Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. And you shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

Solid Foods!

Cale LOVES watching Brian and I eat. From the plate to our mouth he has been intently observing our food for weeks wondering what it is that we are doing. I'm assume he felt he was missing out because everything he can get his hands on goes straight to his mouth. Even more recently he started grabbing at our plates as we ate (he was successful a few times making a huge mess)...so we decided it was time to give rice cereal a try. As you can see, he was more than excited.

I made sure the cereal was not very thick so we could ease into it. When I got the spoon into his mouth he was a little confused and tried to suck on it.

After a few bites he decided he wanted to help me put the spoon in his mouth which actually wasn't much help at all.
He did really well. A lot more of the food ended up in this mouth than on his clothes, which was a big accomplishment for the first time. His bowl was empty before he seemed to get board or be full, but we left it at that.
