7th Month

This month really krept up on me. This is not the end of all that happened this month...stay tuned for more :)
Track season has begun. Cale has been going to PVCC practice with me twice a week since October. We had our first meet this week and Cale came with me as usual. He enjoys being outside and around all the jumpers. He helps me coach by grunting at them as they run down the runway. He is learning quickly and will be a track star before you know it...2024 Olympics here we come!He often falls asleep on the way to practice. I try my best to keep him asleep but I'm usually not very successful. He was able to find a comfortable spot on this day

Cale and I went to Florida to visit one of my best friends. He did much better on the flight this time.

This is the cutie we got to finally meet. She and Cale have a lot in common, including finding good stuff to chew on.

Cale had lots of fun with his new friend. Here is a typical evening with the two of them...

bath time...

... play time in towels..
...play time in jammies, and then bed.

It was fun to watch them. Rosie and I would sit them together like this and watch them interact. Braelynn would grab Cale's foot and then Cale would grab hers. It was so cute.

Cale also tried some new things while we were there. The above picture shows you what he thought of some of the foods I tried to give him.

We took a walk at the park. Cale did surprisingly well on the swing.

He sat at in a restaurant high chair for the first time. Doesn't he look so mature :)

His favorite part had to of been all the fun new toys to explore. It was amazing all the time he spent playing when there were so many things to play with. It convinced me that I really need to get him more toys.

This is four of us together before we went to the airport :( It was a sad departure. We had such a fun time...I wish we lived closer.

He is 6 Months Old!

Cale's half birthday is tomorrow (January 4th). 6 months old and he still changes every day. He hit many milestones during this past month. It is crazy how one day he was rolling over to get places and the the next he was army crawling and not looking back. This video was taken literally a couple of days after he began his new mobility technique and you can see how he mastered it...

Milestone #1 Army Crawl

Milestone #2 Sitting up...

...this too seemed to happen over night. For a while now he could sit up with us giving him support. And then one day he could do it on his own. Believe me this did come with its share of mishaps. He fell over a few times and bumped his head (not while on the sink...don't worry). Now he can support himself for a while, at least until he decides he wants to get moving and goes into the crawl position.

Milestone #3 TEETH!

After a couple days of major fussiness, little sleep and him using my chin as a teething ring (actually it was more like his gums were a knife and my chin was the sharpener) a tooth was detected. I was so excited especially because there was reason now for all the fussiness and no sleep. It was his bottom right popping right through. And only about 2 weeks later the left one followed. He doesn't like to let us get a very good look at them (probably because of sore gums), so this picture was pretty difficult to take.

Milestone #4 Potty Trained...

...Oh wait a minute, he is still pooping out of his diaper. Now it is just in the front since he is spending more time on his tummy. We'll be lucky if he's potty trained by the time he is 2 and a 1/2.

Milestone #4 (for real) the big boy seat

We moved Cale out of his infant car seat and into one that he fits him better. It was a Christmas present from Grandma & Grandpa Keehn. He seems to like it a lot.

Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from this month...

Cale is now skilled enough to get his toe into his mouth. I often find him in this position just waiting to stick it in.

I discovered Cale sleeping in his crib like this one afternoon. I have to say that it made me a little sad seeing him holding on for dear life. He must of thought the bumper was me.

ZOO Lights

We went to zoo lights with Brian's family. Cale loved looking at all the lights.

He has been doing a lot better with his stroller. He doesn't like to stay in it as much as I would like him to.

All the kiddos.

Christmas in Silver

Tis the season...We spent Christmas Eve with Brian's family and then headed to Silver early Christmas morning to spend some time with my family. It was almost a white Christmas. It snowed on the 26th.

Brian was really excited for Cale to experience snow for the first time. We bundled him up and out we went. As you can see, he wasn't sure what was going on or if he liked it. I'm not sure why but Brian has the same concerned look on his face.Remember the trip Cale and I took to Denver to see his Aunt Tona and Cousin Jadyn? Well, this is the baby that was in her belly! Meet Nicolas. He was born only a week or so after Cale and I left. He is 2 and a half months younger than Cale. This picture is the moment they first met. We just got to Silver at about 11:00am on Christmas. We loaded the car at 6am and as you can see, I am still in my traveling clothes.

They are not quite ready to play together, but we thought we would give it a shot. They mostly just looked at each other. I think we all enjoyed watching them more than they liked watching each other. Babies like to see movement and they don't move enough just yet to entertain each other.

This is where Cale started doing his army crawl. Brian put him on the table and he began to pull himself forward with his hands.

Cale did surprisingly well opening his Christmas gifts. He ripped the paper right off the gifts. And when it was off he seemed more interested in eating the paper than what was wrapped in it.

Cale also got to meet Willow (one of my best friends from high school). He had a really good time hanging out with her at Dairy Queen. She lives in NYC so we don't get to see her very often. Cale thought she was very pretty and nice. I told him that I agree.

We got Cale a doorway jumper a few weeks ago and brought it with us to Silver. He didn't really get the hang of it until this day. That's Jadyn in the background. She is a really good cousin and now big sister to Nico.
